Florentine Washbasins for Different Installation Styles

The basin is a central fixture in the bathroom, affecting everyday convenience, countertop use and the appearance of the wash area. Florentine includes countertop, under-counter and wall-hung basin options, allowing different vanity arrangements to be considered.

Countertop Basin

A countertop basin sits above a suitable vanity surface, allowing the basin to become a visible part of the bathroom design. This arrangement can be useful when the counter and basin are intended to complement each other.

Before choosing a countertop basin, check the dimensions, installed height, waste outlet position and faucet mounting arrangement. The counter should be suitable for the selected basin and prepared according to the manufacturer's installation instructions.

The faucet should provide appropriate reach and clearance for comfortable use. Also confirm that the waste fitting and trap can be accommodated within the available space.

Under-Counter Basin

An under-counter basin is installed beneath a compatible countertop, creating a continuous surface around the wash area. This can suit a vanity design where accessible countertop space and a streamlined appearance are priorities.

Check the required countertop cut-out, fixing method and sealing instructions before installation. Confirm that the selected countertop material is suitable for the installation and that the waste connections will not interfere with drawers or storage.

Wall-Hung Basin with Full Pedestal

The Florentine collection includes a wall-hung basin with a full pedestal. The basin is fixed to the wall, while the pedestal extends towards the floor beneath it to create a coordinated appearance.

Before installation, confirm that the basin and pedestal are compatible components. Check the wall support, fixing accessories, mounting height and plumbing positions. The arrangement should allow convenient access for everyday use and cleaning.

Florentine WC Configurations

The Florentine listing includes a rimless blind-installation wall-hung WC and an extended wall-hung coupled WC. Although both are wall-hung configurations, their installation requirements may differ.

Rimless blind-installation wall-hung WC: This configuration is designed for a wall-hung installation with a concealed or less visible fixing arrangement, subject to the specified installation system. Confirm the support structure, fixing method, flushing components and maintenance access before choosing it.

Extended wall-hung coupled WC: This configuration should be selected according to the exact product details and compatible installation components. Check the intended cistern arrangement, waste outlet, water supply and required fixing provisions.

When choosing a wall-hung WC, do not assume that the wall alone provides the required support. The specified support and fixing system must be appropriate for the product. The installer should also confirm the finished height, plumbing connections and access for future servicing.

Planning a Functional Bathroom with Florentine

A bathroom should provide sufficient space for comfortable movement, cleaning and maintenance. The basin and WC need to be positioned in relation to the door swing, vanity dimensions and other fixtures.

For renovation projects, check the existing plumbing before finalising the product selection. The location of the water supply and waste outlet can influence which configuration is suitable and whether modifications are needed.

When choosing between countertop and under-counter basins, consider the desired vanity design and the amount of usable surface space. A wall-hung basin requires appropriate wall support, while a wall-hung WC needs a compatible installation system. Planning these details early can help reduce installation changes.

Coordinating Florentine with Bathroom Faucets

Faucet selection should be based on the basin's mounting arrangement, tap-hole configuration and dimensions. The faucet should provide suitable reach and height for the basin, while the waste fitting and trap must match the plumbing arrangement.

Cleaning and Maintenance

Use a soft cloth or non-abrasive sponge with a suitable bathroom cleaner to maintain Florentine sanitaryware. Follow the manufacturer's care instructions and avoid abrasive pads or harsh chemicals that may damage the surface.

Clean around the basin waste, faucet base and accessible connections regularly. For wall-hung installations, keep the designated service access clear. If a fixture becomes loose or a leak develops, arrange for the installation to be inspected by a qualified professional.
